Fifth Annual Mihsihkinaahkwa Powwow
Mihsihkinaahkwa Powwow is a traditional woodland powwow. The Miami people host this event annually on the first weekend following the first full week in August. A traditional powwow is a social gathering of Native Americans from many nations. We celebrate in dance and song, socialize with relatives and friends as well as commemorate our Native American heritage. A powwow gives us a venue in which we can honor our elders and warriors, give gifts and recognition to those deserving, sing honor songs, ask questions of the elders, teach by example, dance the sacred circle and be healed. No violence, drugs or alcohol are allowed on the powwow grounds.
